Cherry Capital Airport will now be required to meet FAA requirements independently, which is not uncommon for airport operators. With the City no longer having the capacity to provide this service, the agreement will not be extended. The FAA requires that operators of airports must provide aircraft rescue and fire fighting services during air carrier operations. This agreement has provided onsite personnel from the Traverse City Fire Department (TCFD) to fulfill their Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) required standby aircraft rescue fire fighting service.ĭue to the Cherry Capital Airport’s location in the City of Traverse City, emergency services will continue as they have for over 70 years. The City of Traverse City has chosen not to renew a soon to expire agreement with Cherry Capital Airport.
